KAAC offers written assessment examinations in five subject areas:

Middle Grades and High School exams consist of 50 questions and are multiple choice.  Elementary exams consist of 25 questions and are multiple choice.

Each exam concludes with one open-response tie-breaker question that is scored ONLY if ties occur among the top five places.  The open-response question is evaluated on a six-point scale for content area correctness.
