WESTWARD EXPANSION

The following websites are helpful in learning about Westward Expansion.

The American West
Lewis & Clark WebQuest
Timeline of Dred Scott's Life This timeline is used to show students "how good they got it".
Westward Movement This is a web site of facts about the Westward Movement which includes links to the Oregon Trail, Lewis and Clark, and Chisholm Trail.
WEST This is a HUGE web site all about the WEST. It is very easy to navigate through when searching for famous people, places, and events over the years.
Lewis and Clark Expedition This is a very detailed web site about the Lewis and Clark Expedition. If you scroll down on the home page there is a great map showing the path that is numbered with various linked pages.
Travel with Lewis and Clark This is a web quest similar to the famous Oregon Trail where teams (families) make decisions as they travel with Lewis and Clark.  This is not a game and not as involved as Oregon Trail program. This could be done as a whole group before your unit. If you have Oregon Trail, it would be a great program for the children while studying the westward movement.
