Battle of the Books Battle of the Books is a competition in which Franklin County elementary schools participate. Each school has a team of approximately 8 students that represents their whole school. Click here for a list of the books included in this year's Battle of the Books Competition.

Chorus All fifth graders may participate in chorus if they choose. Mrs. Hughes heads this awesome group of performers.

Operetta In general, fifth graders in chorus are the only students given the opportunity to perform in the operetta. Each year, there is a different show.
|
5th Grade Overnight Trip Each year the fifth grade goes on an overnight trip. This trip includes food, lodging, transportation, and admission to all events. The past has seen us go to the Newport Aquarium and the Cincinnati Zoo. This year we are replacing the Newport Aquarium with the Freedom Center in Cincinnati. Only students that prove their behavior merits a spot of the trip will be allowed to participate. To offset the costs, the fifth grade conducts fundraisers and collects donations. If you are interested in donating to this wonderful cause, please email me or contact the school.
|
Academic Team The Kentucky Association for Academic Competition (KAAC) coordinates multiple events throughout the year for students to participate in which celebrate the spirit of competition through academics. This is a wonderful way for students to showcase their academic skills while socializing with students that share their appreciation of knowledge. Students can participate in many ways. Click on one of the links at the left of the page to see what each area has to offer. Tryouts are held at Collins Lane early in the school year and are open to all fifth graders. |
